Opening Day 2008 !!!!!!!

Okay, I have avoided this blog for most of the Winter, even when the news was good:(Santana !!!!)

But I think I can come here now without weeping openly. I have a positive feeling about this year. I will be happier if the Mets can swing a not too painful deal for a corner outfielder(I'd like to have Nady back), but I still think pitching was the major problem last year, and I think Omar did a stupendous job of fixing that issue.

I am excited to have the Mets play the Marlins tonight. I would say I'm excited to SEE the Mets play the Marlins, but I live in Florida(of course nowhere NEAR Miami) but the Marlins home games are still generally blacked out.

I will do my due diligence and turn on the tee vee when I get home, but I do not have a lot of faith that the game will be on.

Let's Go Mets !!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I wore this today:

Not everyone's so high on Santana ... even though he's a Cy winner, some think he's overrated. But even if he goes 15-10, that's gonna help a LOT. We'll have to see how things shake out, especially with pitching. Last September it wasn't only pitching that failed ... it was like certain members of the team had no gas left in the tank and a 5th grade softball team coulda played better. After last September's collapse -- something folks on ESPN and elsewhere have to keep mentioning over and over and over some freakin' more -- it's gonna be a long road to September 1st... and then sitting on the edges of our seats until October. Some are sayin' Santana's gonna help the Mets get there. Others, like the Krukster, not so sure.

Will be interesting.

Zooma- I did find it interesting that Santan seemed to get overrated once the Mets got him. He was far and away the best pitcher in the world when the Yankees and the Sawx were after him. but once the Mets got him, he had to be damaged in some way.
I know he's better than Glavine, and he's better than anyone else they have, and I look at how they palyed last year, and the "MIGHTY" Phillies beat them by ONE game. I think he makes them considerably better than the Phillies and the Braves.
Now, if Delgado hits like last year, they could be in trouble.
