At least there won't be a collapse at the END of the season...
April 8, 2008
Philadelphia 5, N.Y. Mets 2 at Shea Stadium
Philadelphia Record: (4-4)
N.Y. Mets Record: (2-4)
Winning pitcher - Jamie Moyer (1-0)
Losing pitcher - Scott Schoeneweis (0-1)
SV - Tom Gordon (1)
I know it's too early to panic, but this game looked a lot like the end of last year.
the Phillies appear to own us.
Something needs to change.
I hope I'm wrong, but this looks like it could be a looong ugly season for the NYE Mets.

I've got this odd feeling that if the Mets suck ass... somehow Santana's still gonna win 18-20+ games. It'll be a near miracle.
Then when the end of the season rolls around and all the analysts start talking about potential Cy Young Award winners, Santana will be on the Short List...
but he'll be that name that no one can say is the definitive winner yet his numbers will warrant him being the winner. But why won't he be the definitive winner? Because the Mets will have SUCKED ass around him ALL SEASON LONG. Sure, they'll have had some enjoyable wins when the fans said afterwards: Great Game! But those will mostly come when Santana pitches, when he gets a big lead and the bullpen doesn't totally blow the win for him.
Know what I'm sayin'?
This is sad.
Then again, a 95 win season is still not out of the picture. That's what I'm praying for and what most Mets fans are praying for... still early. Ugly... but early.
